recently was I again in Moscow and have of course also be browsed in the local whiskey shelves. The offer is always noteworthy - as are the prices:
sees Where else can one Cadenhead bottling of Bladnoch one from 1965 (17 years old, 46% vol.) For the equivalent of € 1,500? (And I assume that at these prices actually sell.)
clear, since a lot of taxes and duties on it, but the dealer margin would still be considerable. If only it were easier still, whiskey for sale in Russia ... ;-)
This is now just one example of a single malt specialty, but in the standard bottling it does not even "good" from: Since the original 10 years Glenfarclas bottling is already time for almost under 100, - € in a supermarket (in Germany you can already for 30, - get €).
... And these prices are valid despite a still significant economic crisis in Russia:
Since the crisis began in late 2008, the market for major brands such as Chivas and Johnny Walker in Blended Whisky, according to an acquaintance from the Russian spirit world between 40 and 70% are zurückgegnagen, and he hopes to have passed through the valley now in the summer.
In the above pricing, in my opinion, but not surprising if consumers are now again switched to vodka.
Na Sdorowje!
