AVB-Tip 2: Be Cheap Fund
investment is always a game of chance and chance a powerful opponent. The following articles in the German weekly newspaper Die Zeit is accompanied by little.
forecasts are difficult when they concern the future. This is not new, however, we focus our decisions in matters of money above all forecasts. Analysts expect appreciated chief economists, journalists hope to predict bank manager - and all are with regularity, but next to it.
It is foolish to rely on forecasts, because we always butt into unexpected events. Nassim Nicholas Taleb, a native of Lebanon earlier in the service of financial mathematicians on Wall Street, the once wrote beautifully. Taleb recalls the great inventions that have shaped the human race: the Internet about the atomic bomb, the car - or the wheel Let us take our mind but in that short time period before the invention back. Who then would wish to make a correct prediction, the wheel would have to include in its considerations. He should have known what a bike and what it does - before it was invented. But if he had it all already know: Would he not even been invented?
No financial prophet, the attacks on 11 September 2001 anticipated. Or the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers on 15 September 2008. A fortiori, no one knew how it all would affect the financial markets. Even the most well-protected forecast can easily take the chance on the head.
For seven years I'll bet with my colleague Robert von Heusinger of the Frankfurt Observations on the Dax. Every January we make a wager on the status of the German stock index at the end of the year. Who is closer, to win a bottle of champagne. Robert takes the risk of large, backed by fundamentals forecast. I just say something, purely on gut feeling. Bets Of the past seven I won five, only two Robert.
is now, the coincidence was my friend. But to conclude from betting on the outcome of the next would be grossly negligent.

Queen Bed Measurements
Springbank Quarter Cask - what's out there?
Private barrels of Spring Bank had by 2000 not too great rarity. The 50l ex-Sherry Quarter Cask, which I was allowed to try recently is, however, but still quite remarkable.
Why?
The Spring Banks, which I know so have been mostly cask strength or volume to 46%. diluted down.
This 10 year old filling was 40% vol. diluted what the color and the aroma that filled after a few seconds the room, did not diminish.
such small barrels are often even after 5 - 7 years maturity to stay, then there is a risk that the wood flavor is too dominant. Therefore I had in this case with 10 years actually expected a lot of wood flavor (too much tannin also whiskey does not necessarily pleasant), but Spring Bank with the increased dilution clearly seen to it that hold the "Wood notes" in pleasant borders. The whiskey reminiscent therefore more likely to perceive one of the older bottlings, where one believes in the glass the aroma of "Warehouse No.3.
Tasting Notes:
Springbank 2000-2010 - "Michael's Whisky"
nose
Cherry (Mon Cheri), caramel and sweet herbs - mild "Lagerhausmuffigkeit" as they are known by many whiskeys from the 70s.
Taste:
Heavy sweet sherry with a light touch of wood - it has to have the feeling a "old" Springbank on the tongue. Very roughly that it was a small Quarter Cask.
finish:
Unfortunately a bit short (but that is a tribute to the 40% volume to be.) Nice oak tones.
This Springbank for me was really a positive surprise and a sign that you may not have any preconceived ideas.
pity that this particular dram probably can not buy, since only a few boxes have been released and will probably enjoyed exclusively private.

How Often Should I Water A Kumquat
that went backfires
In Turkey, a groom at his wedding shot three family members. His father and two aunts. Unintentionally, mind you. How often practiced in Turkey at weddings like salutes given. Since the groom was once just a machine gun called the AK 47 in his hands and shoots into the air until he lost control of the device and sometimes it just wahrlos rattled the crowd. Real gone stupid.
The groom was arrested. It must be run more stupid. And the celebration was probably then also ran. The guests then all went home.
On this occasion I would like to wish the family Schmid still happy wedding anniversary today. On their wedding
It was the way to weißßgott civilized.

Where was the whiskey at the Basel Tattoo?
And the legendary Edinburgh Tattoo Basel has created over the past 5 years with its output, many fans: after only 36 hours to the 85,000 tickets have been sold out.
I had the feeling that there were only 2 hours - and I'm glad I finally after 3 attempts, this year also it could be.
The atmosphere in Basel's barracks was gigantic, and if more than 200 Piper & Drummer marching into the arena, is the huge under the skin - as you would like to but behind the true mood and perhaps cost a bit of Scottish water of life ... but where?
Glenfiddich since the first edition of the Basel Tattoo (2005), the sole sponsor of whiskey, but unfortunately you have not seen anything like this on the site (except the banner, but that does not fill my glass ... Maybe it was the only whiskey in the VIP area ?
It does not always be given - the "normal" levels and pubs around the tattoo Street has finally sold and their offer and whiskey shows we pay but also like our mite for a nice dram, or a festival bottling ... not so in Basel (in any event, I saw nothing) - and that was bad.
Now we look forward to 2011 and that the whiskey sponsor thinks of the regular visitors. Otherwise I'll probably have to take a flat man - or maybe even a tasting again , as three years for the Swiss Marketing Club.
